Overcome Café: Tales of Mind, Body and Relationships

Overcome Café team

  • Vicki Lambrou

    Hey driven people,

I’m a licensed counsellor, cyclist, and adventure-seeker. I’ve been married to Louis-Philippe for 12 years and our idea of a dream date includes a gravel ride somewhere in the wilderness.

We have two amazing warrior-like daughters. I have the privilege to see how kindness fuels strength to face hardships, no matter the season. I’ve recently discovered that cycling makes me braver, stronger, and more available for the ones I cherish.

My main drive is toward relationships which is why I hope that you will find value to help better manage your relationships.

    Kindly yours,

    Vicki

  • Louis-Philippe Landry (LP)

    Hey driven people,

My name is Louis-Philippe Landry. I am a husband to our wonderful co-host Vicki and father of two amazing daughters! My proud dad and husband moment is the fact that I left a 9 to 5 job to be able to be the best dad and husband that I could be. I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, Canada. I also offer my services in leadership coaching.

You might relate to me as a lifelong athlete from competitive rankings in snowboarding but having found root in cycling in my later years. Cycling is a passion but also a medium for expression and a staple for personal health.

My contribution to Overcome Café is being a co-host, editor, and content creator for our podcast. I also have the role of service provider for our coaching and psychotherapy services. But more importantly, my goals are to help you thrive by better managing your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. The best investment is people and I believe we can inspire you to be the best version of “YOU”.

    Stay driven and vulnerable,

    LP

  • Matt Surch (friend of the show)

Father of two, Matt has been blogging since 2007, melding his passion for all things cycling and philosophy, specifically with regard to the philosophy of technology, ethics, and cognitive science.

Matt began racing bikes in 1993, and has competed at Elite and Masters levels in Canada and the United States, across a broad spectrum of disciplines, from cross-country, downhill and 4X MTB to, road, cyclocross, and gravel, his most ‘prestigious’ results being two 3rd place overall finishes at Canada’s biggest gravel race, Paris-to-Ancaster.

Matt’s passion for cycling, lifelong learning, progression, and innovation underpins the multidisciplinary perspective he brings to Overcome Cafe conversations.

Episode 8: Vicki’s experience in cycling part 2

Hey everyone,

If you’re like us, you love deep coffee conversations! Those great moments where great stories unfold. You start by chatting about the weather and news to somehow find yourself discussing existential questions. Vicki and I both work from home and we have those daily conversations ranging from: “How can I be better at my craft?” to “what do we want to eat for dinner?”. We are grateful that the pandemic hasn’t removed those deeper connection moments. This episode is a genuine real “coffee talk” conversation about the challenges of navigating a “new” passion into being part of better life quality and trying to find a community while honing your skills.

How often did you start something but quit because you didn’t find “your crew” or that external validation that keeps you going? We hope that Vicki’s experience encourages you to press on and find community. We don’t pretend to have all the answers in this one, we want to offer a reflection on why driven people might isolate themselves vs than invest in a community. The quest to achieve a goal can distract from the beauty of discovering new knowledge by being with others! Vicki’s story shares the balance between goals, persistence, and growing with others.

Stay driven and vulnerable,

LP.

Vicki’s experience in cycling part 1 with Vicki Lambrou

Hey folks,

Today’s episode is an exciting one! We have Vicki Lambrou as a guest to share her cycling experience and how this has provided an arena to express life lessons and self-care. She is a certified counselor working in the Canadian Federal Government and she spends her waking hours helping others. From clients to friends and family, she brings compassion and understanding to others while balancing self-care and personal development. Her experience in cycling is representative of driven people trying to do the “juggling act” and choosing to set goals that are process-oriented “aka character-building” rather than striving for the next “new thing”. We have an account of openness and authenticity from Vicki and we hope you will find your “give yourself a break” moment in order to find your passion in cycling.

Stay driven and vulnerable,

LP Landry, co-host of Overcome Café: tales of Mind, Body, and Relationships.

Episode 6- DM a therapist tries to answer “how to ask for help?”

Vicki and I have a great conversation about how to ask for help from a mental or physical health professional. We give a perspective from both the client's and the professional’s point of view.

This will serve you well if you believe that stopping and taking care of yourself is an obstacle to your goals… but not doing so can cost you short and long term.

Stay driven and vulnerable,

LP

Episode 5- Our “why” aka we love to dive deep into a subject :)

Today’s episode was such a dream of mine! Having the chance to build alongside great humans! A guest that became a friend and the MOST important human in my life, aka my better half, Vicki! This episode dives deep into each of our individual why. Having taken each our own journey to get to this I thought it would so interesting for you to hear us working on this via this episode. I am so happy for you to hear this genuine, soul-feeding, and emotionally freeing conversation. We three are different variants of driven people, and this is so obvious by the way we approach life wherever that means of each of us.

Where we unite Matt, Vicki and I are that we are process-oriented and time or number specific are the arenas where we grow and gain wisdom that leads us to our purposes/personal why.

Have a great listen folks!

Stay driven and vulnerable,

LP Landry.
